Thanksgiving is almost here bringing the promise of delicious aromas that fill the room and make us all hungry. However, even during the best of times, toothaches can still occur. If you find yourself this season with a painful toothache, contact your dentist right away. If you are unable to go to a dentist right away, then there are steps you can take to help the pain until you are able to make it to the dentist. These three tricks include:

1.Ice: Numbing the nerves that are throbbing from the toothache will numb and decrease the swelling and pain so you can feel comfort again.
2.Salt, pepper, and water: You can add salt and pepper to a few drops of water so you create a kind of paste. The salt will pull out any fluid trapped in your gums around your tooth, and the root of your gums to help ease your pain. The pepper has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that will help to reduce the pain.
3.Clove oil: Clove oil offers help with the inflammation upon contact with the painful area relieving some pain from the toothache.

The important thing to remember is to visit your dentist as soon as possible. Your dentist can discover the cause of your toothache and help you with the pain. If you have any questions about your oral health, please call us at 770-641-8010.
