How to Care for Bonded Teeth

Posted .

Do you ever feel embarrassed, or even ashamed, of your smile? If you have minor smile flaws, Dr. DeMercy and Dr. Kossick may recommend dental bonding in Roswell, Georgia. During the bonding procedure, our dentists will apply a tooth-colored material to your teeth and use a special light to harden it and bond it in place. This material can enhance your smile and will feel like your original tooth. Dental bonding may be an option for your smile if you have:

– Dental decay (the resin material is used to fill cavities)
– Chipped or cracked teeth
– Stained teeth
– Small gaps between your teeth
– Teeth that appear too short
– Misshaped teeth
– Exposed tooth roots from receding gums

To care for your new smile, practice good oral hygiene. No special care is required! Brush your teeth at least twice a day, floss once a day, and use mouthwash once or twice a day. Also, be sure to visit DeMercy Dental regularly for professional exams and cleanings.

It is important to remember that the bonding material can chip. To prevent this, avoid habits like chewing on pens, ice, or other hard objects; biting your fingernails; and opening things with your teeth. Contact our dentists if you notice any sharp edges on your bonded tooth or if your tooth feels strange when you bite.
